Award-winning festival celebrating food, music, and the arts to return on April 25 and 26 presented by The University of Mississippi Museum and Ole Miss Athletics
Visit Oxford MS, the official destination marketing organization for Oxford, Mississippi, announces the 28th annual Double Decker Arts Festival, a renowned celebration of food, music, and the arts, scheduled for April 25 and 26. The red double-decker bus, imported from England in 1994, will be displayed as the centerpiece and inspiration for the two-day extravaganza held in the historic downtown square.
Since the 2015 edition, organizers have selected a local artist from multiple submissions to be featured as the “official artwork” for the festival. This artwork is showcased on the festival merchandise, including t-shirts, posters, and light pole banners displayed around the downtown square. This year’s distinguished artist is Sarah Buzzell, a Tupelo native and owner of “Buzzy Studios” through which she has written, illustrated, and published two children’s books.
With more than 25 awards, including the 2023 Best Large Festival by the Mississippi Tourism Association, Best Festival by Mississippi Magazine and a Top 20 event by the Southeast Tourism Society, Double Decker brings more than 75,000 attendees for a weekend celebrating food, music, and the arts. Highlights of this year’s event include:
A Southern showcase – from tempting tasty bites to inspiring one-of-a-kind art: The festival preserves its original charm while expanding, offering diverse Southern culinary delights and more than 150 art vendor booths. The artist showcase is open on Saturday from 10 am to 5:30 pm.
Kid Zone and Blues Alley: On Saturday, April 26, The Kid Zone will be in the Lafayette County Chancery Building parking lot from 10 am to 6 pm. The Blue Delta Jeans Company will host the “Blue Delta Blues Alley” with a musical lineup beside The Lyric beginning at noon.
Music Lineup: The music kicks off on Friday, April 25 at 4 pm with The Great Dying, followed by The Band of Heathens, Ole 60, and ending the night with Charley Crockett. Burnside—followed by the sci-fi funk Seratones, the Mississippi-made Water Liars, Afro-Cuban rockstar Cimafunk, and The Record Company followed by alternative rock band Houndmouth, known for their nostalgic sound. Grace Potter will close out the night with the final performance.
