Today the Mississippi Department of Health (MSDH) is reporting 1,348 new cases of COVID-19 in Mississippi and 36 new deaths, which is almost double the cases reported yesterday. Mississippi’s total of COVID-19 cases since March 11 now stands at 74,555, with 2,163 deaths.
Currently there are 929 Mississippians hospitalized with confirmed COVID-19 infection. There are currently 161 people hospitalized for suspected COVID-19.
72 of the new cases reported today were among residents in long-term care facilities with 10 deaths in long-term care, and there are now 180 active outbreaks of COVID-19 in long-term care facilities (where an outbreak is one or more cases among residents or staff).
