Prosecutors and defense attorneys requested a judge seal future court filings in an Oxford, Mississippi capital murder case.
Timothy Herrington Jr. is awaiting trial in the death of former Ole Miss student Jimmie “Jay” Lee.
Attorneys for both sides claim that closing the case to public view is the only way Herrington can receive a fair trial in Lafayette County because of the pre-trial publicity.
Oxford Police accused Herrington of killing Lee in 2022 to keep their sexual relationship a secret — an accusation he denies.
There’s no word on what a judge will rule on the motion, as well as the defense’s request for a change of venue.
