Today the Mississippi Department of Health (MSDH) is reporting 2,756 new cases of COVID-19 in Mississippi and 40 new deaths. Mississippi’s total of COVID-19 cases since March 11 now stands at 215,811, with 4,787 deaths.
Currently there are 1,387 Mississippians hospitalized with confirmed COVID-19 infection. There are currently 321 people hospitalized in intensive care for confirmed COVID-19. There are 89 intensive care beds available statewide.
There are 236 active outbreaks of COVID-19 in long-term care facilities (where an outbreak is one or more cases among residents or staff). There are 70 new long-term care cases and 15 new long-term care deaths.
