Today the Mississippi Department of Health (MSDH) is reporting 2,343 new cases of COVID-19 in Mississippi and 42 new deaths. Mississippi’s total of COVID-19 cases since March 11 now stands at 185,643, with 4,294 deaths.
Currently there are 1,239 Mississippians hospitalized with confirmed COVID-19 infection. There are currently 318 people hospitalized in intensive care for confirmed COVID-19. There are 70 intensive care beds available statewide.
There are 239 active outbreaks of COVID-19 in long-term care facilities (where an outbreak is one or more cases among residents or staff). There are 96 new long-term care cases and 10 new long-term care deaths.
