A new addition to this year’s event, the Oxford Film Festival is highlighting alumni films in a series of film screenings leading up to the main festival in February. The next event on December 11, 2024, showcases the work of filmmaker Cady McClain. Audiences can enjoy a free screening of “Seeing Is Believing,” followed by a Q&A session with McClain.
The film screening is at 7 pm on Wednesday, December 11 at Malco Oxford Commons, 206 Commonwealth Blvd. in Oxford. Admission is free, but registration is required at www.ox-film.com.
“Seeing Is Believing: Women Direct” is a documentary film that emphasizes the opportunity for women to use their voice through media to change the social and political landscape and achieve full equality. Focusing on inspiring and uplifting young female storytellers through the mentorship and leadership of four diverse directors, “Seeing is Believing” opens the conversation up to ask “What is the broader role of storytelling in our society and how can women use filmed media as a unique opportunity to catalyze progress?”
Cady McClain is a three-time Emmy award-winning actress with multiple film, television, and theater credits. She is the artistic director at Axial Theatre in Pleasantville, New York.
The 22nd Oxford Film Festival is February 27 to March 2, 2025, at the Malco Oxford Commons Cinema in Oxford. The festival exhibits more than 100 films from across the globe that seek to provide the audience with a transformative viewing experience.
