Move On Up Mississippi will present a community field day on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at the Old Armory Pavilion on University Avenue from 8 – 11 am. Admission is free and open to the public. There will be activities for children including relay races, an obstacle course, old fashioned sack races, tug of war, hooping lessons, dance performances, community garden tours, art and reading activities and much, much more.
According to Move on Up Mississippi founder, John Currence, “Move On Up hopes to create an inclusive community-wide event that celebrates the mission of our foundation and provides healthy activities for our children through the Oxford-Lafayette Community Field Day. We hope to bring people together from all walks of life in our community for an event that used to be central to summer gatherings in small American towns nationwide.”
There will be healthy snacks and beverages, prizes and a raffle. Move On Up Mississippi grantees will also be present to provide information about their programs.
