The Oxford Police Department congratulates all the award winners at the 2024 Oxford Peace Officers’ Officer of the Year Banquet! We especially congratulate Officer Nick Bails for winning the 2024 Officer of the Year award.

“Nick is an exceptional individual whose qualities have consistently stood out since the moment we first met him. He is intelligent, dedicated, and deeply committed to serving the community with wisdom and compassion. Whether through his reports or his videos, it’s evident that Nick approaches his work with both professionalism and genuine care for the people he serves. The City of Oxford is fortunate to have someone of his caliber.”
Officer Bails, an officer with OPD for four years, is the 28th recipient of the R.L. “Bob” Jones Memorial Officer of the Year Award. He was nominated by Corporal Hillary Smith.
“I’m extremely honored to receive this award,” said Officer Nick Bails. “I’m fortunate to work for a department with great leadership and officers. I’m thankful to be a part of OPD. I’d also like to thank my wife and family for supporting me through all the challenges that come with this profession.”
