Red Hot Rebels Hit the Road today at Auburn

Winners of four games in a row, Ole Miss is playing some of its best basketball of the year. The Rebels, ranked as high as No. 39 in RPI, will take on Auburn (10-11, 2-6) this afternoon at 5:30 at Auburn Arena. The game will be aired by the SEC Network.

Head Coach Andy Kennedy has the Rebels (15-7, 6-3) tied for second place in the SEC. Ole Miss has defeated the Plainsmen five straight times.

“These are the kind of games you have to win in early February,” Kennedy said. “You have to grind through them. When you have a veteran team, you hope they have the maturity to be able to, even when they’re not on the top of their game.”

~ The Rebels lead the SEC in scoring in conference games at 74.3 ppg.

~ Ole Miss leads nation in free throw percentage, hitting 79.9 percent of its attempts, which would also lead the NBA. The Rebels have hit 227 of their last 274 (.828) attempts from the line. Junior G Stefan Moody leads the SEC and ranks eighth in the nation shooting 90.4 percent from the free throw line.

~ Ole Miss’ strength of schedule ranks 36th in the nation according to ESPN.com. The Rebels have face eight teams in ESPN.com’s top 50 basketball power index, posting a 4-4 mark.
