Yokna Bottoms Farm will hold a “Farm Day” all-ages open house event on Saturday, April 9, rain or shine, starting at 3 pm. Doug Davis, the proprietor of Yokna Bottoms explained, “Basically, we just want to open the farm up to people, and let them come out and see what we’re doing. It’s a good chance for everyone to enjoy being out on the farm.”
The event, which is free to the general public, will feature music, food, and family-friendly activities such as kite flying, a natural maze, visiting with farm staff and helping with planting vegetables, exploring Yokna Bottoms’ extensive acreage, and possibly a hayride. “Farm Day” will last from 3 pm until after dark, and will culminate in a relaxed bonfire and drum circle in the evening. The musical lineup includes Luke and Amy Fisher, Greg Johnson and Shaundi Wall, Darren Grem, Keith Moore, Tony Boyd, and Tate Patrick Moore. As if that’s not enough, Keith Moore, who has assembled the list of performers, also enticed that “. . .there will be surprises.”
Yokna Bottoms has a long history of hosting delightful open house events for the local community. If you’ve ever been curious about local agriculture in your community and learn about where food comes from (CSA shares are still available for purchase), or if you just want to come make friends, relax to the sounds of some great music, and get the family out for a little fresh air – there’s a bounty of reasons to come unwind at Yokna Bottoms Farm and enjoy nature and community.
