The annual Ten-Minute Play Festival is back! An Oxford community favorite, featuring the winners of the 10-Minute Play contest and other finalists, brought to life by Theatre Oxford. This production has been a town favorite since 1999, featuring new performances chosen from the international competition, brought to The Powerhouse stage February 14 and 15.
Several plays will be showcased, including the grand prize winners, “95 Tiles” by Bethany Teames and “The Southerner” by Jenna Worsham, along with the third-place winner, “Supergirls” by Kathryn Ryan. Theatre Oxford received 240 submissions from seven countries and 36 states for the competition.
The show on February 14 will be at 7:30 pm. There will be two shows on February 15, with one at 2 pm and one at 7:30 pm. There will be a Q & A with the winning playwrights and playwright Desta Wondirad on Saturday, February 15, at 4:30 pm at the Powerhouse.
The festival will also include two playwriting workshops. They are: “Character Research for the 10-Minute Play” by playwright Wondirad (this workshop will be offered in person and by zoom) and “Sketch Writing” by actor/playwright Connor King (this workshop is virtual only). For more information, see http://oxfordarts.com/tickets-classes.
Tickets for the performances will be $12 for Theatre Oxford members, $15 for students and seniors, and $20 for non-members. Tickets will be sold online, closing two hours prior to show time. Tickets will be sold at the door if available.
All productions will take place at the Powerhouse. For more information, visit theatreoxford.org.
