Third edition of special event to raise funds to support music education initiatives of GRAMMY Museum Mississippi
Award-winning singer/songwriters Ashley Cleveland, Karen Staley, Carrie Tillis, and Tricia Walker will come together for a special evening of songs and stories at GRAMMY Museum® Mississippi on Tuesday, July 16, at 7 p.m. This group of talented artists, three of whom are part of the original Women in the Round, will perform “Bluebird Cafe style” for Big Night with Women in the Round, sponsored by SouthGroup Insurance and Visit Mississippi.
“We are thrilled to continue our Big Night with Women in the Round series this year and invite four incredibly talented singers and songwriters to our museum for what is sure to be an incredible evening of music,” said Emily Havens, Executive Director of GRAMMY Museum Mississippi. “The contributions these talented artists have made to American music history are indelible, and we can’t wait to have them here to share their music and stories of their prolific careers.”
Ashley Cleveland, Karen Staley and Tricia Walker were members of the talented foursome that was the first female “in the round” group at the Bluebird Cafe, one of the world’s preeminent listening rooms, located in Nashville. Their first show together was in 1988 and they have continued to perform together for select dates over the years. This performance at GRAMMY Museum Mississippi will feature the songwriters swapping stories and taking turns playing their songs and accompanying each other instrumentally and with harmony vocals.
Women in the Round, a part of the Museum’s Big Night program series, will take place on Tuesday, July 16. Tickets for the fundraiser will go on sale to members on June 11, 2024, and to the public on June 15.
