Yoknapatawpha Arts Council‘s annual “Iron Bartender” contest has been re-imagined for the current environment. The new contest will continue the state-wide challenge offering an online bartender submissions, a cocktail walk in Oxford, Mississippi, and culminating in a recipe book.
Online Contest
The contest will allow bartenders affiliated with a Mississippi restaurant to submit a cocktail recipe and short video. Each accepted submission will receive an “tip” from the J.E. Pitts fund to support bartenders whose livelihood has been impacted by the pandemic.
Bartenders must submit a full recipe using a product from the sponsored list, a photo of the cocktail and a short video highlighting the cocktail. The bartender, his or her restaurant, and product will be featured in our social media campaign and on our cocktail class video channel.

Cocktail Walk

Square & North Lamar in Oxford, Mississippi
The event will culminate in a two night cocktail walk, featuring cocktails from local bartenders and restaurants. Utilizing restaurant patios and outdoor spaces, the event will encourage residents to walk the two restaurant districts of Oxford sampling cocktails.
The event will run from 5 pm-8 pm enticing those on the cocktail walk to have a late dinner at one of the participating restaurants and support the Mississippi culinary community.
